Do you have frequent redness on the cheeks and nose due to rosacea? If this has left you wondering how to treat redness from rosacea, we’re going to take a look at one of the most powerful treatments now available for rosacea redness.
What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition that is marked by redness, flushing, and pimples on the face, especially on the forehead and cheeks. The exact cause is unknown, but the condition is linked to the dilation of facial blood vessels.
Lumecca Photofacial for rosacea
Lumecca is a photofacial solution that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat the redness associated with rosacea. Photo facials have been used for many years to treat skin conditions such as rosacea, vascular lesions, and sun damaged skin, but Lumecca is an improvement on earlier technologies. Lumecca is a simple, relatively painless procedure with no downtime.
How it works
A cool gel is applied to the skin at the start of treatment, and then the intense pulsed light is delivered to the targeted areas. Lumecca selectively targets the redness in the skin. The treated area will eventually flake off and the skin tone will look more even.
There is usually some redness after treatment, but this usually subsides within 24 hours. Patients may notice an improvement in the clarity of the skin after the first session, but multiple sessions are required to get the best results. The number of treatments recommended will depend on the severity of the rosacea redness.
Lumecca Photofacials are offered at the Skin Care Center, with locations in Chicago (773-296-3636), Glenview (847-901-0252), and Lake Forest (847-234-6121), Illinois.
