What is the recovery time for FUE hair transplant?

If you are experiencing hair loss and would really love to sport a full head of hair once again, FUE hair transplant may be the solution for you. Follicular Unit Extraction – FUE – is  a very effective hair restoration technique, because it creates results that look very natural.  But how does it work, and what is the recovery time for FUE hair transplant.

FUE hair transplantation
FUE is a technique used to extract follicular units of hair during hair transplantation. It is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed in-office, under local anesthesia.

FUE involves the use of a special instrument that individually harvests the follicular units, which generally contain 1-4 hairs. The hair is harvested from the back of the head, because the hair is usually very dense in that area.

The specialized punch removes the hair follicles, without causing any damage to the skin. The donor hair is cleaned and trimmed, before being transferred to the balding areas. The resulting scar is so small it’s hardly visible after healing.

Recovery time for FUE
Recovery after FUE hair transplant is fast, and most people take off about 3-7 days after the procedure. You can expect to be out and about within 7 days, because by that time the shaved areas should have started to grow out. The donor area takes about 10 days to heal. The transplanted hair follicles start growing about 3-5 months after being transplanted. However, the final results can take over a year to be seen.
